Discipline is vital in every child’s life. The objective of discipline is to encourage responsibility and promote good behavior. Kids will often challenge rules and boundaries that you set but they are essential in order for them to mature responsibly into adulthood.
The establishment of house rules will tell your child what you expect of them and will assist them in developing self-control and responsibility. Examples of some basic rules that parents should put into practice are: no watching television until all homework is completed; no smacking or punching and no bad language.
As a parent, If your child breaks the rules there must be consequences and discipline must be exercised. You could try working out a disciplinary system, such as three strikes and your out. Out, meaning that they are punished in some way, perhaps by being grounded or by loosing some type of privilege that ordinarily would be granted to them.

If you waver and allow your child to get away with something one day, they will expect to be able to get away with it again another day.
